Q: When will a customer be eligible for hardware upgrade?
A: Customer who has joined Rogers Wireless service for more than 1 year can now upgrade anytime. The cost of the device will be based on their accumulated revenue with Rogers Wireless (accumulated wireless revenue since January 2001 or since their last hardware upgrade after January 2001).

TEXT MESSAGE
Q: What is the cost to send a SMS message?
A: You will be billed $0.15 for each sent message within Canada; all messages that you receive will be free (up to 2500 messages/month).

Q: Can I send and receive SMS to other Non-Rogers customers as well as to Overseas?
A: Yes, you can send International SMS to other major Cellular Phone Carriers.

Q: What are the maximun characters allowed on each SMS/e-mail?
A: The maximum is 160 characters including spaces, punctuation and an automatic header with your phone number (for quick message reply).

Q: What if the recipient has their device turned off or is outside of a Rogers Wireless coverage areas?
A: The network will store and re-send the text message within 72 hours. After that the message will be gone.

Q: Will SMS and/or the browser work for a non-Rogers GSM device?
A: In many cases both the browser and SMS will not work if the device was not specifically manufactured for the Rogers network.

Q: How much will I be billed if I send/receive an SMS in a GSM roaming market?
A: The cost of using SMS while roaming the US is $0.40 per message sent while International roaming is $0.60 per message sent. There is no charge for messages received.

Q: How do I download graphics/logos on my wireless phone?
A: To download ring tunes launch your internet browser (navigate), select Get Music&Tones and pick your favourite ring tune! To launch your browser:
Motorola phones: press the "Browser or Internet" soft key
Nokia phones: press and hold "O"
Samsung phones: press and hold "i"
Other phones: find the Browser/Internet option in the menu settings |
Q: Do I need SMS to get ring tones and/or graphics?
A: Yes, ring tones and graphics are delivered to your handset via SMS. You will need to have the ability to receive SMS messages turned on |
Q: How do I download Polyphonic Ringtones to my phone?
A:The following link provides instructions on downloading Polyphonic Ring Tunes as well as allowing you to preview them. You will need to download the Polyphonic Ring Tune from your phone's mobile Internet browser in order to purchase it.

Q: How do I get charge for downloading ringtones and graphics?
A: Charges for ring tunes will appear on the Account Summary page on your Rogers Wireless invoice under the Other Data Services section. You will see the accumulated charge for each Polyphonic Ring Tune ordered during your billing period. You will also see a charge for the data usage for the download under the Other Data Services section on your invoice. You will be charged for both the ringtone and data usage for the download.

Q: Will I be charged if I order a ring tone and/or graphic and I do not have SMS?
A: Yes. Please ensure that you have a compatible handset and SMS before you order a ring tone and/or graphic.

Q: How long will it take to receive my ring tone or graphic?
A: You should receive your ring tone or graphic within 5 minutes of ordering.

CELLULAR SERVICE PLANS
Q: Why do I have to pay a fee to switch my Rogers service to Pay As You Go?
A: The $50 migration fee is required for administration purposes. As a bonus, you will be given 30 minutes worth of airtime when you switch from a regular Rogers service to a Pay As You Go service. However you may be required to change your cellular phone number depending on the type of handset you are using. Please check with any of our Celtek stores for details.

Q: Can I use the GSM device I purchased overseas on the Rogers network?
A: GSM devices manufactured outside Canada that work on the 850/1900 MHz frequencies can be used on the Rogers network, however the performance of the device cannot be guaranteed.

Q: What are the WAP/Data settings needed to use a non-Rogers phone on your network?
A: If your wireless phone is a non-Rogers GSM phone, the data/internet functions are not guaranteed to work on the Rogers Wireless network.
However, you can set up your phone with the settings below and the service may work:

Q: How much is a long distance call in Canada?
A: If you are on one of our current pricing plans (excluding One Rate Pricing and Pay As You Go), you will be billed $0.25/min for your wireless long distance calls in Canada.
There is No Charge for Long Distance within Canada for One Rate Pricing.
Pay As You Go long distance calls in Canada are 30¢F/min in addtion to local per-minute rate.

Q: Am I being charge airtime if I call a 1-800 number?
A: Yes, you are: a 1-800 number does not waive the airtime; it only waives the long distance charge.

Q: Why would I get "PRIVATE, UNKOWN or NO ID" on my screen when I have Caller ID?
A: Your Digital Call Display will give you those messages if:
The calling party blocked presentation of their number;
The call originates from a pay phone or through a business switchboard: a main business number or a non-existing number may appear
The calling party's number is not passed to Rogers Wireless from the landline network
You are experiencing accidental roaming
You are roaming outside of Canada
It is an internationally-originated call
The caller calls one wireless phone that is forwarded/transferred to a second wireless phone.

Q: How do I block my wireless number on a per call basis?
A: Dial *67 and then the 10-digit number you are calling if you have a TDMA phone.
Dial #31# and then the 10-digit number you are calling if you have a GSM phone.

Q: How do I display my wireless number on a per call basis?
A: Dial *82 and then the 10-digit phone number you are calling.

VOICE MAIL
Q: How do I retrieve messages from outside my local calling area with my GSM phone?
A: To check for and retrieve messages, press the voicemail button on the GSM phone. Most GSM phones have this button default to Key 1. Do not call your GSM phone number to access your GSM voicemail from your GSM phone. Please refer to your phone's user manual for setting up your Voicemail Retrieval Number or visit any Celtek stores.

Q: How do I check my voice mail with my GSM phone?
A: You can check your voice mail by using either a regular landline phone or from your cellular phone. There will be no airtime charge if you check it from a landline phone. Air time charges applied when you check it from your cellular phone. When checking voice mail from your GSM phone, you don't call your own cell number. Instead, from your GSM cell phone, dial 604-418-3471 to get into the voice mail system. |
